There is no way to calibrate the Yummly Smart Thermometer.
If the internal temperature readings are incorrect or inaccurate, make sure you:
- Fully insert the thermometer so there is no metal showing (just the black ceramic top).
- Use a cut of meat that is at least 3/4 inch thick
- Avoid any large fat pockets or air pockets in the meat.
- The temperature sensor is closer to the middle of the thermometer and not at its tip, so make sure the center of the thermometer is not too close to the surface of the meat.
You can also do a quick test to check the calibration of your thermometer. Add some water and ice to a cup (no more than 2.5" worth). Let it cool for a few minutes. In the Yummly app, after you press the Set Up Cook button, select the “manual” mode setup, the first option (see screenshots). Place the stainless steel portion of the thermometer into the ice water. Do not submerge the thermometer (keep the black ceramic top dry). The app should show the temperature drop to 32-36 degrees.
