What is a “Yummly login” and how do I know if I have one?
When we first launched in 2010, people could register for a Yummly account using their email address and a password. If you log in to Yummly using an email address and password combination, that is a “Yummly login”.
Why is Yummly moving to third party registration?
We'll be moving Yummly registration to Facebook, Google, and other third party registration methods. This change will make it easy to save and share your favorite recipes with one less user id and password to remember, and lets us focus on improving the core Yummly experience.
What are the benefits of switching?
By switching, you will continue to be able to store your taste preferences, maintain your profile, and more on Yummly without another account/password. If you sign up via Facebook, you will be able to share the recipes you “yum” and cook with your Facebook friends and family.
When I switch will I lose all my recipes and preferences?
No, the only thing that will change on your account is how you access your account. All preferences, recipes and account information will stay the same.
When will 3rd party registration methods be available?
Facebook is available now; Google and other registration methods will be available shortly thereafter.
By using Facebook, what permissions does Yummly require?
These are the Facebook permission windows you will see when you click to use Facebook to log in:
And then there is a specific permission to post to your Facebook wall when you Yum or Cook a recipe. You can modify these settings in your Application Settings within Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=applications
You can also control what gets posted to Facebook from Yummly by making changes to your Yummly account preference. Learn more.
I don’t have a Facebook account, what do I do?
If I don’t switch to Facebook and other registration methods, what happens to all my preferences, recipes, menus and more?
When we completely switch the Yummly login to third party registration methods, you will no longer be able to log in to Yummly and use the features that come with having a Yummly account. You will only be able to log in using other third party registration methods. You may continue to use Yummly to search for recipes - that will always be available without creating an account!
